KGI Securities released a new report that claims Samsung will introduce the in-screen feature in the eventual Galaxy Note 9

Samsung has yet to launch its upcoming Galaxy Note 8 series later this month but rumours have already surfaced about the next Note in line.

According to KGI Securities the Galaxy Note 9 will be the first Samsung device to feature an in-screen fingerprint sensor that will be launched in either August or September 2018.

Samsung debuted its Galaxy S8 with a fingerprint scanner on the back of the device, positioned next to the camera. Though this feature was unusually placed, the report reveals Samsung will perhaps stick with the design until the Galaxy S9 edition. Thereafter it will introduce the in-screen sensor in the Galaxy Note 9.

The report indicates that Samsung is in no rush to release a smartphone with such technology, especially as Apple's iPhone 8 will reportedly have the standard fingerprint scanner.

KGI said: "Galaxy S9 will have the new selling points of upgraded iris recognition and dual camera, Samsung has no need to risk adopting under-display optical fingerprint solution in a hurry."

This, of course, should be taken with a pinch of salt as Samsung has not confirmed these details and the Galaxy S9 and Galaxy Note 9 are not due until next year.

Samsung's Galaxy Note 8 is set to launch on 23 August 2017.
