New Middle East boss at Canon aims high

Imaging vendor Canon has named a new managing director to head its Middle East operation.

Imaging vendor Canon has named a new managing director to head its Middle East operation. Former marketing director at Canon Sweden Bertil Widmark steps up to take the reins from ex-Canon Middle East president Gordon Jones.

Widmark boasts 20 years of experience within various divisions of Canon, from sales to product development and product marketing. His predecessor Jones steps down after eight years in the role, setting up Canon's first Middle East representative office during his tenure. Jones, who is thought to be assuming a new role in the Far East, is confident Widmark is the right selection.

"I am immensely proud of Canon's success in the past years and confident that Canon will undoubtedly continue to thrive across MENA region", said Jones. "Canon Middle East is fortunate to have someone with Mr. Widmark's experience and drive assuming operating responsibility for Canon during this period of rapid growth. Given his background unmistakably this growth will continue," he added.

Widmark is aware of importance of his new role and is focused on maintaining the growth the vendor has exhibited in the region. "It is an honour to serve as the managing director of Canon Middle East, which is established in the region as a leading manufacturer and provider of powerful new imaging solutions and products for the digital home and office," said Widmark. "Canon Middle East has brought together a remarkably talented group of people who have achieved great success and I look forward to sharing in their continuing growth", he added.

The newly-appointed managing director revealed the vendor will be unveiling a host of products into the Middle East over the next six months. "We are very confident in Canon's ability to create exciting user experiences be it at work or at home, and to help individuals and businesses large or small reach their full potential. With our 70-year heritage of pioneering world-class technology, Canon is today in the position to deliver the products and services its customers anticipate," concluded Widmark.
